Man Charged In String Of Laurel County Burglaries

A man has been arrested in Laurel County in connection to a series of burglaries. Police say from November through December of last year, Bobby Yocum broke into a home on five different occasions. During that time, police say he took a gun and several other items. Yocum faces first and second-degree burglary charges. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Barbourville Police Investigating Theft Of Classic Truck

The Barbourville Police Department is investigating the theft of a 1972 Chevy pickup. The truck was stolen sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning near the intersection of Daniel Boone Drive and Broadway Street. The victim has posted a $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call Barbourville Dispatch at 546-3510.

Corbin Woman Behind Bars After Allegedly Pouring Gas On Husband And Setting Him On Fire

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says deputies arrested a Corbin woman after she allegedly poured gasoline on her husband and set him on fire. It happened off of Woodland Court about 10 miles south of London. Deputies say 40 year old Vera Wooten got into a fight with her husband at their home, which led to the incident. Afterward she reportedly drove him to St. Joesph Hospital in London for treatment. Officers say the husband was flown to a Cincinnati hospital with burns on more than 50% of his body. At last check, he was in critical condition. Wooten was charged with assault and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Police Arrest Man Accused Of Beating A Woman In The Head With A Club

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of beating a woman in the head with a club. The incident happened at a home on Somerset Road. Deputies say when they were called to the scene, they found a woman who told them 46 year old William Baker had assaulted her the night before with a wooden object that had nails in it. The victim told officers she was knocked out and woke up having seizures. Deputies say she started having seizures while they were at the home prompting them to call an ambulance. Deputies later found Baker and after a brief scuffle took him into custody. He faces a host of charges. No word on the victim's condition.

Man Injures Officers During Arrest Attempt In Laurel County

The Kentucky State Police says a man got violent with Laurel County Sheriff's deputies who attempted to arrest him. William Collette, Jr. is in the Laurel County Detention Center. Troopers responded to help deputies with a domestic complaint on Oak Ridge Church Road. Troopers say they witnessed William Collette, Jr. charge at deputies inside the apartment, yelling that he was going to kill them. One deputy deployed his Taser, but police say Collette did not respond and charged the officers. State police say Collette tackled both officers taking them out the door onto the sidewalk. Police then used a second electronic control weapon on him. During the struggle, police say Collette caused cuts and abrasions to officers. The victim of the original domestic dispute told officers Collette had been drinking all day and made several threats toward her and her children. State Police charged Collette with assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, assault (domestic violence), and criminal mischief. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

London Police Arrest Woman On Meth Charges During Drug Investigation

The London Police Department says officers conducted a “knock and talk” as part of an investigation into drug activity at the Economy Inn. Police arrested 44 year old Lenore S. Stroming of Ashland, Ky after a search turned up two hidden baggies containing Methamphetamine. Stroming was charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Tennessee Man Hospitalized After Crashing Into Whitley County House

The Whitley County Sheriff's Office says a man was seriously injured when his car ran off the road and into a house. Deputies say a car was traveling down busy US 25 when the driver, Mark Chambers of Knoxville, Tennessee, ran off the road and crashed into a house. Matthew Powers was inside about to go to sleep when he says he heard a loud crash. He walked outside to see a car against his house and a man slumped over the steering wheel. Police say Chambers may have had a medical issue and lost control. They say the car went airborne, before hitting Powers' home. Emergency crews had to pry Chember's door open to get him out. He was taken to Jellico Hospital before being transfered to UK Hospital with what police called life threatening injuries.

Laurel County Police Looking For Car Wash Theft Suspect

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says deputies are investigating a criminal theft complaint off Ky 192 near Saddlebrook. A lone male suspect was caught on surveillance cutting a cleaning brush from a car wash and fleeing the scene at approximately 1am Thursday morning. The man appears to be driving a white or light colored Cadillac Escalade. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Laurel County Sheriff's office at 864-6600. Information will be strictly confidential.

Five People Arrested After A Disturbance In Corbin

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies arrested five people after complaints that they were causing a disturbance at a bank. It happened on West Cumberland Gap Parkway, near Corbin. Bonnie York, Amy Jones, Clay Mosley, James Weaver and Robert Upham were arrested and face various charges including possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Deputies say when they got to the scene, those involved were in and around a car in the bank's drive through lane. They say some of them were under the influence. All five were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Two Lily Men Arrested After Allegedly Yelling And Threatening To Shoot Each Other

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies were called out to Slate Ridge road, across from Lily Pits, where two men were reportedly screaming and threatening to shoot each other. When officers arrived at the scene they found 22 year old Michael Philpot and 24 year old Logan North there under the influence. They were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespassing and alcohol intoxication in a public place. Philpot and North were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
