Three Arrested On Drug Trafficking Charges In Laurel County

The Kentucky State Police says three people in Laurel County are facing drug trafficking charges after troopers found drug paraphernalia, meth and more than $11,000 in cash in their homes and vehicles. KSP detectives stopped an SUV driven by 28 year old Marti L. Payne of London as part of a drug investigation. While searching the SUV, troopers say they found drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash. Their investigation led the troopers to then search Payne’s home and a truck driven by 43 year old Edwin Willis of London.  In those searches, troopers say they found meth and more cash. Troopers arrested Payne and Willis as well as 25 year old Chelsea Roark of London. All three are charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to deliver or manufacture. Willis faces several other charges as well. They were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Laurel County Police Looking For Man Accused Of Assaulting A Deputy

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says deputies are looking for a man who they say assaulted an officer. While investigating a complaint of suspicious activity in a vehicle, police found that Larry Wilder was wanted on an outstanding warrant. While they were trying to arrest Wilder, police say he shoved a deputy and ran from the scene. Laurel County Police Asking For Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

Laurel County Sherrif John Root says deputies are looking for a man they say robbed a store at knifepoint. It happened at the Dollar Store at Saddlebrook, near London, Sunday evening. Police say employees were trying to keep the man from leaving the store with a stolen cell phone worth about $50 when he fought with them. They say he was armed with a knife. As police arrived on the scene, they say the man drove away in a stolen car and crossed into Clay County on the Hal Rogers Parkway. Deputies say the man then ditched the stolen car and took off on foot into a field along Gilbert Collins Road, near Oneida. Below are photos from the Dollar Store security cameras. Laurel County Police Arrest Man Wanted On Sex Abuse Charges

Laurel County deputies developed information on the location of a man wanted in connection with a sexual abuse case and took him into custody. Erik Steele was arrested in London early Monday. On June 11th, police say Steele went into the bedroom of a 14-year-old in Knox County and touched her inappropriately. Steele faces first-degree sexual abuse charge. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Man Accused Of Murder Faces Judge

A man accused of murder faced a judge this week in Clay County. Police say Kenneth Grubb was indicted for allegedly killing Robert Burns in May. He pleaded not guilty last month. Burns' family say they will be in court for every hearing until a jury decides Grubb's fate. The judge set another pretrial conference for November 6th.

Intoxicated Woman Arrested On Trespassing And Other Charges

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says deputies were called out to a home Ky 1228, about 10 miles north of London, where a woman was reportedly trespassing. When officers arrived they found 47 year old Regina Ann Griffie of London was there and had refused to leave when asked to go. Griffie admitted to deputies she had taken meth and suboxone. Deputies say during her arrest she became combative, struggling and kicking police. Officers say she had to be carried to the cruiser and had to be carried into the Laurel County Correctional Center. She was charged with criminal trespassing, disorderly conduct, public intoxication – controlled substances, assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Laurel County Police Arrested Two Men After Drug Investigation

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says detectives and deputies arrensted two men after a drug investigation on 16th Street in London. Deputies say 52 year old James Barlow was charged with possession of a controlled substance – crystal meth. 51 year old Duane Barlow was charged with disorderly conduct after becoming angry and creating a disturbance during the investigation. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Sheriff John Root says drug investigations will continue. Laurel County Police Investigating Rash Of Thefts From Vehicles

The Laurel Sheriff's Office says deputies are investigating a rash of thefts from vehicles. In most instances, police say the vehicles were left unlocked. Purses, wallets, money, cell phones, electronics and other items were stolen. Sheriff John Root says they will increase patrols throughout the county, but ask people to lock their vehicles and remove items of value before locking them. He says some credit cards were stolen and used to buy gift cards. Anyone with information on the thefts are asked to call the Laurel County Sheriff's Office at 864-6600.

Corbin Man Indicted After Deadly Crash

A Corbin man faces multiple charges stemming from a deadly Knox County crash in 2016. A grand jury indicted Joseph Clark Friday. Clark is accused of driving at a high rate of speed and passing in a no-passing zone, causing the death of Roger Daugherty. Clark is charged with reckless homicide, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to maintain insurance.
