London Police Make Arrest After Woman is Killed in Jackson County Carjacking Incident

Jackson County Sheriff Daniel Isaacs says they’re investigating the death of a Jackson County woman. Police say it happened in Annville outside of T-Mart Saturday morning. Officers say a suspect, Michael Edwards, reportedly carjacked a parked truck. The victim, Tracy Clemmons, came out and grabbed a handle of the truck. She was reportedly dragged by the truck and run over. Officials with the Laurel County Coroner’s Office said Clemmons was pronounced dead at St. Joseph London from blunt force trauma to the head. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested help from the London Police Department due to Edwards possibly being enroute to the London area. Upon arrival, Sgt. Troy Truett and Officer Hobie Daugherty found Edwards in a ravine in a field near the Laurel/Jackson County line and gave chase. Officers noted Edwards was in possession of a firearm. Edwards was caught and after a brief struggle was taken into custody. He was charged with murder, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, persistent felony offender, carjacking and convicted felon in possession of a handgun. He was lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center.
