Corbin Police Investigating String Of Break-Ins

WYMT is reporting the Corbin Police Department is investigating a string of break-ins targeting unlocked cars, outbuildings, and storage areas in several neighborhoods. The incidents are believed to involve a group of juveniles and happened during the overnight hours in the following areas:

  • Maple Lane
  • 7th Street
  • Residential neighborhoods near the Pepsi Plant

In response, officers have stepped up patrols in these areas to deter further activity. All the affected cars and outbuildings were unlocked, prompting officials to remind residents to secure their belongings.

“Be sure to lock up all of your outbuildings, lock up your cars at night,” said Robbie Hodge with the Corbin Police Department. “If you see someone strange in the neighborhood that’s not usually there, go ahead and give us a call. We don’t mind, we like to come out and check them out to make sure everything’s safe.”

To help prevent further break-ins, police urge residents to:

  • Lock all vehicles, homes, and storage areas.
  • Remove valuable items from vehicles.
  • Avoid leaving items in plain sight.
  • Report any suspicious activity immediately.
  • Consider installing security cameras.

Hodge emphasized that having cameras on your property can serve as both a deterrent and a valuable tool for investigators.

Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the department directly.
