A former South Laurel girls’ basketball coach is on the mend after a serious accident while he and his family were on vacation. Coach Chris Souder was at the Lake of the Ozarks, which straddles the Missouri/Arkansas state line when he and his wife were on a tube being pulled by a pontoon. Police say the tube hit a section of the dock. Souder was recently renamed the Mercer County girl’s basketball coach. Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Police say the pontoon got too close to a dock, and the tube hit the dock and ejected both. Souder suffered a broken hip, pelvis and a knee injury. At last report Souder was scheduled to have surgery. Souder’s wife was not injured in the accident.
