Laurel County Sheriff John Root is warning citizens of another phone scam. Investigators say the scammer claims to be a deputy and tells the victim that they need to pay bond money regarding a legal issue. Sheriff Root says this is a scam to steal money. He says his office will never call citizens demanding money regarding a case or warrant. If you receive a call like this, do not send money, but report it. The investigation is continuing.
