Laurel County Sheriff John Root says a man was arrested after a detective accompanied social services on a complaint regarding a reported assault on a minor. Investigators determined 51-year-old Roderic Oliver Collins had struck a minor in the face, leaving a laceration above her right eye. It was also determined that Collins placed the minor in danger of possible serious injury or death by allowing an unsecured weapon to be near her. Collins was charged with 4th degree assault and 1st degree wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
