Man Arrested in Laurel County on Intoxication and Drug Charges After Allegedly Sitting at Gas Pumps for Five Hours Refusing to Leave

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says K-9 Sgt. Gary Mehler and Detective Robert Reed were called out to a gas station off Cumberland Gap Parkway where a man had reportedly been parked at a gas pump for approximately five hours in a pickup, and was refusing to leave. Police arrived to find 38-year-old Jacob Daniel Clem, of Lexington, in his truck with the engine off. During the investigation, deputies determined Clem was under the influence. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clem was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
