Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams recently clarified what might take place should Governor Andy Beshear get the nod to be Kamala Harris’ VP nominee. Governor Beshear endorsed Vice President Harris in an appearance this week on Morning Joe. Secretary Adams said the ballots for the commonwealth have not been printed because the nominees for both parties have not yet been selected. Adams said if he is elected to the vice presidency, then under our constitution that would be deemed an incompatible office and he would not be able to serve simultaneously. So he would have to resign as governor at that point and our Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman would assume the powers of the governor for the remainder of Governor Beshear’s term while holding her title as Lieutenant Governor.
