Laurel County Sheriff John Root reports the London-Laurel County Communications Center received a call from a man saying that he had received a call from a friend that he had shot his girlfriend. Deputies were dispatched to the home, just north of the city limits near the Hal Rogers Parkway. Initial responding units could not see or hear any activity from the home and requested additional units. The Laurel County Special Response Team, arrived on the scene and after obtaining a search warrant, entered the home. Officials found 47-year-old Debra Meece in the master bedroom with an apparent gunshot wound to the facial area. Officers also found 49-year-old Douglas Lee Mutters in the same bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Captain Richard Dalrymple and Detective Hunter Disney are leading the investigation. Also assisting at the scene were the London Police Department and Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
