Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Austyn Weddle, Deputy Nate Bishop and Maj. Robbie Grimes were called out to a home off County Farm Road to do a welfare check. Deputies say when they arrived, they could hear screaming inside the home. Police say 57-year-old Billy Ray North finally came to the door. During questioning, North became disorderly and attempted to flee back into the home. After a brief struggle North was taken into custody. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Deputies say 44-year-old Angela North began creating a disturbance, yelling and cursing officers. She also reportedly threw an object, hitting Deputy Weddle in the face. During her arrest, she threatened to kill the deputies and continued to kick and curse as she was placed in the cruiser. She was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, menacing, terroristic threatening and criminal mischief. Both were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
