Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson says a man is facing several charges after he assaulted a first responder. Police and EMS responded to a complaint about a man causing problems in a home earlier this week. Police arrived to find 38-year-old Joshua Stapleton there, who reportedly told them he “wanted a preacher and had been up for two days.” During the investigation, police said Stapleton hit a first responder. Following a brief struggle, Stapleton was taken into custody. Stapleton reportedly continued to deny help from EMS, and banged his head against the cruiser window until they arrived at the Clay County Detention Center, where he was put in a restraint chair. Stapleton is charged with assault, criminal mischief, menacing and disorderly conduct.
