Knox County Police Arrest Jellico Man at Crash Site

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says deputies responded to a crash at Spur Oil # 2 at Bailey Switch. Deputies determined that a pickup hauling vinyl siding was traveling south on US 25E when it left the roadway through the parking lot striking two tractor trailers and a fuel pump before it became lodged on top of an embankment. When the deputies arrived, the driver was attempting to dislodge the pick-up truck and flee the scene. The driver, 34-year-old Robert Reed, of Jellico, TN was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Leaving Scene of Accident and Failure to Render Aid or Assistance. The passenger, 45-year-old William Barton, of Corbin, was charged with Public Intoxication. Due to being over four times the legal limit of intoxication, Barton was taken to the Barbourville ARH for observation. Reed was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
