Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Bobby Roberts, while on patrol on South Laurel Road, pulled over a motorcycle that had no license plate on it. During the stop, the driver, 31-year-old Justin Helton of London, was determined to be under the influence. Helton gave police a false name multiple times before giving his actual name. Helton was found to have six outstanding warrants. He was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia. Helton was arrested and in addition to the warrants was charged with DUI, giving an officer false identifying information, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of identity of another without consent, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to maintain required insurance and no registration plates. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
