Laurel County Sheriff John Root says while Deputy Cyruss McVey was attempting to locate a vehicle on an unrelated complaint, he encountered a Honda 250 on KY 229 with no lights. When Deputy McVey tried to pull over the rider, later identified as 41-year-old Donald Liford of London, he sped up leading a chase through several back roads, often on the wrong side of the road. Liford eventually turned onto KY 1223 where he lost control in a turn. After a brief struggle Liford was taken into custody. Deputy Skyler McFarland assisted on the arrest. During a search he was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. He was charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, resisting arrest and trafficking in a controlled substance. Liford was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
