Congressman Hal Rogers announced Lydia Engle, a senior at Corbin High School, as the winner of the Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky’s fifth congressional district. Her painting will be featured in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year and she is invited to a national reception in Washington this summer for all the winners across the country. The Mountain Arts Center is providing two free tickets to see the Kentucky Opry in Prestonsburg, Kentucky for the second and third place winners. The second place artwork was created by Madeline Frye, a freshman at Southwestern High School in Pulaski County. The third place artwork was created by Blakely Callahan, a freshman at South Laurel High School.
