Laurel and Pulaski Counties Awarded Funding Supporting Growth and Development

Governor Andy Beshear’s Office awarded more than $15 million to 13 counties this week, including Laurel and Pulaski Counties. In a news release, officials from the office announced that the funding would be going to support job growth and economic development. Nearly $2 million in state funds will be provided for a project in Laurel County. On behalf of the London-Laurel County Economic Development Authority, the Laurel County Fiscal Court plans to purchase a 170-acre property and complete infrastructure extensions. According to the release, the full scope of the project will total nearly $4 million. $500,000 will be going toward a project in Pulaski County. On behalf of the Somerset-Pulaski Economic Development Authority, the city of Somerset intends to finish phased work at an intersection into a 142-acre site, known as the SPEDA Commerce Park. Officials said the total project investment comes out to more than $1 million.
