London Man Arrested for Assault of a Police Officer and Impersonating a Police Officer

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting Deputy Bobby Roberts was dispatched to a complaint of a man laying in the road that had almost been struck by a car. Deputy Roberts arrived to find 48-year-old Thomas Saylor, of London, in the middle of the road. Saylor told the deputy that he was an off duty police officer and then took off running. Following a foot chase and brief struggle, Saylor was taken into custody. Saylor continued to identify himself as a police officer and said that he couldn’t be arrested. Saylor was determined to be under the influence and was wanted on an outstanding warrant. In addition to the warrant, he was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, fleeing or evading police, assault on a police officer, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and impersonating a peace officer. Saylor was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
