Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested a Knox County man who reportedly fired multiple shots into a home. Deputies were dispatched to a home off Wagers Road early Monday morning where they found a man with a bullet wound. During the investigation, officers determined 26-year-old Joseph Collett, of Gray, had walked up to the house, shot and killed a dog and forced his way into the victim’s home. Police said Collett then fired multiple shots in the home, striking the man and nearly shooting a 4-year-old child. The victim was treated on scene by first responders. Collett was charged with attempted murder, first degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of first degree wanton endangerment and second degree animal cruelty. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
