Laurel County Sheriff John Root said Deputy Austyn Weddle, K-9 Sgt. Gary Mehler with his K-9 Foxx and Deputy Cyruss McVey were called out to the Hal Rogers Parkway where a passerby reported a woman slumped over the wheel in a vehicle. Deputies arrived to find 48-year-old Stephanie Ecton, of Richmond, there and during the investigation, K-9 Foxx alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search turned up suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and a large quantity of pills. Ecton was arrested and charged with drug and paraphernalia possession and prescription controlled substances not in the proper container. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
