Laurel County Sheriff Warns of Another Phone Scam

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is warning citizens about another phone scam circulating the area. He says the caller claims to be Sgt. Brett Reeves. Sheriff Root says they have a Sgt. Reeves, but he’s not the one making the calls. The caller is telling victims that they need to pay bond money, up to $4000, relating to a legal issue, missed court appearance or an outstanding warrant. The sheriff advises that if you receive a call like this report it. He says to never give out personal data or financial information. The Sheriff’s Office continues the investigation into this most recent phone scam.
