London Man Arrested After Nearly Hitting Police Officers

The London Police Department says they received a call from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office to look for a car that almost hit two deputies while investigating a car crash. Officer Josh Morgan found the driver, 63-year-old Samuel Baker, of London, and the car in his driveway. When Baker saw Officer Morgan, he left the car and locked himself in a shed. Officer Jared Hale joined Officer Morgan, along with Sgt. John Inman, K9 Officer Ryan Jackson, and from the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Gary Mehler and Deputy Nate Bishop. Police say they had to break into the shed to get to Baker. After a brief struggle, he was arrested. Officers say Baker smelled of alcohol but because of his level of intoxication they were not able to conduct a field sobriety test. He was charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, menacing and resisting arrest. He was lodged the Laurel County Correctional Center.
