The Center for Rural Development and the Kentucky Office of Broadband hosted a public listening meeting this week at the Clay County Community Center. The community was able to listen to updates on funding, data, and more relating to the improvement of high-speed broadband in the county. The President/CEO of the Center for Rural Development, Lonnie Lawson, said the priority of the organization is improving the lives of southern and eastern Kentuckians and that includes broadband accessibility. Some people who attended the meeting said they are hopeful but do not want to get their hopes up because they have heard news of high-speed broadband before. The meeting gave people a chance to learn about tools offered by the Center for Rural Development to aid them in data collection. Click here to take a speed test and learn more. Lawson added as they learn the weak spots in the county through data they will decide the best course in fixing the issue.
