Severe Weather Leaves Destruction in London and Laurel County

Cleanup efforts continue in Laurel County after Sunday’s storm. Officials with the London Fire Department suspect a lightning strike sparked a fire at Huffman and Huffman in downtown London. London Mayor Randall Weddle said three firefighters were injured at the building and were taken to Saint Joseph’s Hospital in London, and at last report were in stable condition. Several trees were down and some fell on homes and cars, but no serious injuries were reported. Several residents were without electricity for some time. The National Weather Service was in the Corbin area to determine if damage there was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds.
