Knox County Police Make Arrest in Burglary Case

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says deputies have made an arrest in a burglary that happened New Year’s Eve. The burglary occurred at Extreme Fitness on Highway 25E. The investigation pointed to 47-year-old Alan Wesley Smith, of Barbourville, who allegedly broke into the garage of the business and stole two cars. Along with the stolen cars Smith reportedly stole multiple tools and caused damage to the property. Police say Smith was seen driving one of the stolen cars in the Hinkle area on KY-1304. Deputies pulled him over and took him into custody. He was charged with theft, criminal mischief, burglary, and receiving stolen property. Smith was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
