London Police Make Arrest in Shooting Incident

The London Police Department says they received a call that a person was shot at the Betty Jane Apartments and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital. The victim was identified as 25-year-old Cody Deaton, of London. Officers say he suffered from minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Officers received information that the shooter, 20-year-old Brian Goforth, of London, had fled behind the residence. Officers found Goforth’s tracks in the snow and followed them through the woods to Wendy’s on S. Laurel Road. Police found Goforth there, where he was arrested without incident. Meanwhile, detectives executed a search warrant at the residence where the incident occurred and found what was believed to be illegal narcotics, stolen items (including a firearm), and other drug-related items. Goforth was charged with assault, wanton endangerment, receiving stolen property, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. The investigation is ongoing.
